Privacy Data Management

The requirements and principles for effective and efficient data management is thread that runs through the complete POPI Act. Business would therefor ask critical questions such as:

  • Do we know what PI we collect, process and store in systems, servers, laptops, cabinets, filing systems.
  • Who had access to this PI and do they do with it.
  • Do we share this PI with 3rd parties.
  • Do we know the specific and unique purpose that every element of PI data is used for.

These and many other questions requires at least reasonable capability by business to prove acceptable data management practices. Magna will assist its clients to:

-Develop a data governance model incorporating all governance bodies, documentation, acceptable use policies and controls to ensure the appropriate data governance as required.

-Discover, review, clean-up and update PI to an except able level of quality, integrity and completeness as required by the privacy Act. The outcome of a data quality framework can then be used for the sustainability of this requirement.

-Provide a Mater Data Model for a reliable and accurate view of PI master data, data attributes, usage, accessibility, security and change control requirements.
